We met so many cute children on Monday, we’ll be grinning well into the new year.
In order to debut our new kid-inspired designs for 2012 in the most stylish way possible (and maybe get a few extra imaginative perspectives on how each infinitely positionable wall stickers kit might be arranged), we enlisted the help of a national talent agency, The CuteKid, to help us find a handful of enthusiastic cuties who love playing dress-up and having their pictures taken. They introduced us to 20 kids between the ages of 2 and 7, all of who arrived excited and accompanied by their encouraging parents.
We set up shop in New York City’s 28on27 Studio and designed a few different backgrounds to welcome our adorable cast. Because we’ve all directly experienced how difficult it can be to keep a child waiting, we had the foresight to add a classic distraction for the kids waiting for their call times on the sets. We covered a large space with our patented chalkboard wall decals and created a blank, inviting canvas with several bowls of colored chalk. Just as we hoped, the chalkboard wall was a big hit and the kids (along with a bunch of parents who couldn’t resist) had a blast choosing pieces of chalk and drawing their own masterpieces.
Fortunately, none of our cuties had to wait too long between set redesigns. One of the glorious things about our peel and stick wall decals is that they can be removed and reused over and over again, which is a key feature when you need to decorate and redecorate a set quickly between shots (or rebuild a gift show booth that burned to the ground in the middle of the night).
The props were another crowd-pleaser. Our prop stylist, Maureen, compiled an array of hats, scarves, toys, and costume jewelry. The kids tried on costumes – the cowboy and cowgirl props were definitely the day’s winners – and presented smiles both wide and genuine for Mike, our warm and patient photographer.
While we’re not quite ready to reveal our new designs, we’d love to share a few images from what amounted to a pretty fantastic (and exhausting) day. If you’d like to see more shots from our photo shoot, we’d love to show you! Visit our Facebook page and flip through the album called NYC Photo Shoot/December 2011. Enjoy!

Come join Kelly Ripa, WallCandy Arts and a slew of celebrity and designer guests for the Super Saturday 14 celebration to benefit ovarian cancer research. (Click on the picture for more details!)
The Super Saturday logo should have Roman numerals — SUPER SATURDAY XIV — because this weekend truly is the Super Bowl of charity benefits.
What’s a Designer Garage Sale, you ask? It’s just like your yard sale, except that this one features more than 200 designers selling their wares at bargain discounts to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. It’s just like your yard sale, except that you can get your fortune told while enjoying a high-end manicure. It’s just like your yard sale, except that there are carnival rides for the kids and the customers will include celebrity shoppers like Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa and Kim Kardashian.
The action is from noon-6 p.m., at the Nova’s Ark Project Sculpture Park, in Water Mill, New York.
But for those of you who live outside of New York or can’t make it, there’s a remote control option all day on QVC — again to benefit the fight against ovarian cancer.

If you can't make it to the Hamptons in person, you can get great designer deals from your couch by tuning into QVC all day on July 30. (Click the pic for more details!)
WallCandy Arts is proud to have CEO Allison Krongard participate in Super Saturday, donating mounds of removable wall decals for the cause. You can meet Allison and all of these prestigious designers in the sculpture garden and snag the perfect decorations for your children’s bedrooms or dorm rooms at special Super Saturday prices.
“It’s a very ‘Hamptons experience,’” Allison says. “It’s excessive in every way, but especially in generosity because designers provide a lot of excellent product to the event and guests arrive ready to spend for the cause!”
Actress Kim Kardashian just recorded this compelling public service announcement for the event on her blog.
Check back with us next week to find out how Allison spent her Super Saturday and which celebrities plan to stick WallCandy Arts decals in their homes.
Of course, you don’t need to buy a thing this weekend to help out the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. You can help millions of women and their loved ones by making a donation here or by planning your own fundraiser.

Kudos to all entrants, and to our voting readers, as well!
Time to announce a winner! Our polls are closed, the popular vote has been tabulated, and the people’s choice in our My Sweet Room Contest rings loud and clear! Drum roll, please ….
Congratulations to home decorator extraordinaire, Christy Snook, who decorated her daughter Delaney’s room to perfection with a happy combination of our wallsticker kits.
Christy ran away with the large majority of votes in our Contest, but we still must congratulate all the entrants, who each demonstrated marvelous creativity in his/her own unique way. And extra congratulations to Rick Joens and Karen O’Campo, who both received special mention.
Allison Krongard, President of WallCandy Arts, remarked about Christy’s entry: “Delaney’s room is bursting with fun and intrigue. I love how Christy combined Candy Factory with the Seasons designs. I would have never thought of it but it looks fantastic. I really appreciate all the entries;it’s such a joy to see what people do with the product.”
To reward her excellent work, Christy will receive her choice of WallCandy wall sticker kits.
Thanks so much to all participants, and we hoping everyone is looking forward to our next Sweet Room Contest. We’re planning for it to be bigger and better than ever! Look for details soon.

The choices are infinite!
Wallpaper murals are exciting and inexpensive decorating solutions that have captured the fancy of many parents recently. What better way to inspire your child’s imagination than with a colorful, big-as-life scene right there in her room?
You can choose from an endless selection of themes, from storybook illustrations, to sports or world maps or outer space, to wilderness or fantasy scenes, and everything in-between. You can even have your own photographs enlarged to become murals.
After all, those four blank walls don’t provide much stimulation. You want to give your child all the delight and motivation you can in this stressful world. But hiring an artist to create an original is beyond most folks’ budgets. Wallpaper murals provide an inexpensive and satisfying alternative.
What’s required to transform your kid’s room with a mural? Probably, the hardest part is selecting the scene you want. Take your time choosing, as this will be a fairly major decorating commitment! Be sure you’re virtually in love with the picture before purchasing.
Most wallpaper murals come with paste provided, or pre-pasted. You apply the picture in strips, much the same way any wallpaper is applied. It will take you a few hours to do, if the mural is indeed wall-sized,and the brilliance of the effect will be worth every minute of effort! Smaller murals, for doors or sections of wall, will of course be more quickly installed.
It’s best to start with a very smooth, latex-painted surface for a wallpaper mural. If your surface is not smooth, you can install a ‘liner-paper’ that will make the wallpaper go on easily.
Worried about damaging the wall when you remove the mural?Check with the seller to ensure your mural’s adhesive is safe.
Again, there are a multitude of options in wallpaper murals. You can choose the scene, the size, the substrate, the adhesive type, and more. But if wallpapering is not an experience you enjoy, or if your landlord prohibits it, or if you want more ongoing flexibility in your décor, remember that you can opt for vinyl wall decals. These are generally smaller than murals, but they come in just as huge a variety as their larger cousins, and can be applied and removed with ease.
Everyone loves pictures, and kids are endlessly entertained by excellent visuals. You know this is true, having observed your child watch the same movie over and over a hundred times. So it’s truly smart parenting to provide your young ones with rich and always accessible images for their constant delight and comfort.
