Suggestions for your young child’s room
When it comes time to renovate in your school-age child’s room, he or she will surely let you know it. Anytime past kindergarten, a kid will start to clamor for some changes in their personal space.
You can’t blame them, really. What a shock it must be to their little systems, going to school, having homework, being surrounded by dozens of their peers every day. It’s not your happy nursery anymore. They’re forced to grow up quickly.
If your kids share one bedroom, configuring things peaceably can take every shred of your creativity and then some. Bunk beds, room dividers, furniture arranged to make a wall: you’ll consider all the options.
If your child has his own space – and every child should have their own space, whether or not there are walls around it – you can promote his growth by attending as best you can to interior design requests. A child who has a safe, comforting, and inspirational refuge in his room is a happy child!
Does she want to move her bed next to the window; or hang a picture of an idol on her door; or paint one wall red? You may have many reservations about her suggestions, but watchful indulgence is the best tactic in such a situation. Why not say yes, and just close the door to her room when you have guests? Or better, show it off to visitors, as a sample of your daughter’s expressiveness.
You can also help with some upgrades of your own. Perhaps you switch out the Care Bear sheets for something more age-appropriate. You replace the frilly pastel nursery curtains with shades you pick out with your kiddo’s help. You enlist her expert shopping guidance as well in selecting a new set of stickers for her wall.
The result is increased interest and even excitement on your child’s part about learning and growing. When he can see that growing up involves intentionally modifying your surroundings, getting help when you need, and having a can-do attitude, he quickly adopts a healthy optimism in his overall outlook.
And, don’t worry, when she tires of that red wall, things will change again. Sooner than you think!

A simple solution for parents, an appealing diversion for kids
Hey, what happened? Yesterday, you were cradling an infant, and all of a sudden now you’re running after a charming little two-year-old, hell-bent on getting in trouble. You realize that for months now, half your time is spent cleaning up after your little person, amazed that she is indeed a multi-dimensional human being with a will of her own.
Of course, the most astounding fact is that you’re even more in love, if that’s possible. You’re simultaneously bursting with ideas about delighting your toddler, beset by worries about his safety, and anxious to provide the finest guidance a parent has ever displayed.
Whew! And it doesn’t get any easier for a long time. A parent’s life is a treasure hunt for things and experiences that are a combination of safe, exciting, and educational.
So you shop for whole foods, dress your toddler in natural fibers, keep television exposure to a minimum, read lots of books to him, take him on zoo trips and nature walks.
One thing that you notice: your child has so many toys, but only plays with a few of them. You make a mental note to be more conservative in the toy department, providing a few essentials but not feeling like you have to buy every cute thing.
What’s important is how much a toy earns your kid’s loyalty. You notice that toys requiring a lot of imagination on your child’s part are generally the best loved.
That’s one of the reasons you’re so happy about the wall stickers you have for your toddler’s room. It wasn’t easy deciding amongst the many choices appropriate for your child’s age. You checked out the nature inspired wallstickers and after much deliberation, and trying to get some help from your baby (who seemed to love them all), you chose a couple and combined them in a little scene on the wall, low down where your young’un can interact with them. She is enchanted with them, and you watch her imagination go wild as she plays in the atmosphere they create.
It’s such a huge relief to know the wall stickers are completely non-toxic, too. And if you want to move them around or store them for a while, no problem.
Products like WallCandyArtswall stickers make a parent’s life so much easier. It’s a simple addition to your toddler’s life that can enrich her both safely and delightfully.
New blog tickles our WallCandy fancy

OK, so you get one guess what a blog called Milkshakes and Margaritas is all about. You got it – way cool kids and their even cooler parents!
Our friends Tanya Schevitz and Danielle Gutherie, moms in San Francisco, are the drivers of this new daily read. Each the mother of 2 boys, they just started up the blog this month. Tanya also writes for several publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle. Danielle is a partner and designer in the San Francisco -based design studio, the Vega Project.
Pairing Tanya’s writing with Danielle’s graphic skills seems to be a brilliant idea! We really like the site’s design. Categories so far include Freebies and Giveaways, Father’s Day Gift Ideas, Loving This, and Things We’ve Learned. So there’s a nice combination of great product features and personal observations.
The site is dedicated to “all things kid and parent related.” We’re betting it’s going to become a leader. Check out this post, for instance, about Tom Robbins’ B is for Beer.
The bloggers would love to have your feedback in the comments there, as they nurture this new baby towards maturity. Grab their feed, and share with your friends. This site will delight any parent.
Wall stickers are perfect (and safe) for the nursery
A brand new little human being in your household can create an awesome amount of havoc for such a small thing. Life is never quite the same again for anyone in the family. And while an infant doesn’t take over the entire house the way she will in a couple of years, you want the little cutie to have her own personal, comfortingspace.
Babies seem to be totally out of it all the time, but they really do absorb their surroundings and it’s important that they feel as safe and content as possible. That’s why you fix up their room, or a corner of a larger room, to be all theirs. You shield the space from bright light and loud noises, and put a crib and rocking chair in it, along with a few toys, a patchwork quilt, and perhaps a mirror.
You’re tempted to create fun pictures on the walls to entertain your new love. You’d like him to lounge in his crib and look at colorful, interesting things, not just a blank wall.
Babies grow up,though, it’s a fact. Quicker than you think, your little charmer will evolve into a terrifying two-year-old, a precocious toddler, a totally turned on school kid, a mysterious strange teenager who used to be someone you knew.So you know that painting duckies and flowers on the wall won’t be long appreciated.
WallCandyArts wallstickers will transform the baby’s space instantly and not permanently! You can apply them in minutes and then remove them easily when it’s time for achange. The completely non-toxic applications can grow and change right along with your child.
You can choose from several designs that will delight your new arrival. A couple of our favorites are the Flutterflies and the Tulips. Combine them with Dottilicious for extra fun. Oh yes, and it’s ok if Mommy and Daddy have a great time playing with these wall stickers, too!
Happy Monday WallCandy Blog Readers! It’s been some time since our last “weekly” special. So to make up for it, we’re offering 20% off your choice of either Fly Society (our tres cool bird wall stickers) OR Deerly Beloved (our adorable deer wall decals).
